Installation Tolerances and What Film Can and Cannot Do
Architectural film is a surface finish, not a leveling material. It follows the substrate exactly, which means it reproduces dents, ridges, filled screw holes, and delamination underneath it rather than concealing them. Substrate remediation belongs in the documents as a separate responsibility, and we will identify what is required during the site walk.
Geometry has limits as well. Heat-forming handles radii, reveals, returns, and profiled edges well; extremely tight inside corners, deeply undercut profiles, and porous or flexing substrates are where we will tell you film is the wrong solution. Being told that during design is far cheaper than discovering it at punch.
Seams are managed, not eliminated. On wide runs we plan seam locations against the design intent — aligning to panel joints, reveals, or symmetry lines rather than letting roll width dictate placement.
