What Blast-Resistant Film Is
Blast-resistant window film is the highest level of security glazing available, designed to contain glass during explosive events. By keeping windows intact and holding fragments in place, it dramatically reduces the flying-glass hazard that causes the majority of injuries in a blast.
Our Credentials
We install blast-resistant film on government buildings in Los Angeles — and we're one of a limited number of installers in Southern California with the experience to deliver these projects to specification, including the anchoring systems that blast resistance requires.
Applications Requiring Blast-Resistant Film
Blast-resistant glazing is specified for the highest-risk facilities:
- Federal and state government buildings
- Court houses and law enforcement facilities
- Banks and financial institutions
- Schools and universities (post-9/11 security upgrades)
- Hospitals and critical infrastructure
- Embassies and consulates
- High-security corporate facilities
GSA Compliance
We install blast-resistant film to specifications that meet General Services Administration (GSA) requirements for federal buildings, including the performance conditions used to evaluate blast hazard mitigation.
How It Differs From Standard Safety Film
Blast-resistant film is thicker than standard safety film and is paired with anchoring systems that attach the film to the window frame. The complete assembly is engineered to withstand blast overpressure rather than simply holding a broken pane together.
Anchoring Systems
Film alone isn't enough for true blast resistance — proper edge attachment is critical so the filmed glass stays anchored to the frame under load. We install both the film and the mechanical or structural-silicone anchoring systems the specification calls for.
Threat Levels
Different facilities require different protection. We work from the project's threat assessment to specify the appropriate film and anchoring combination for the required performance level.
Discreet Installation
Government and high-security projects are handled with full confidentiality, including unmarked vehicles and discreet scheduling where required.
