Why Interior Tint Doesn't Work
The melting is caused by a reflection off the outside surface of a Low-E window. Interior tint is applied to the inside pane — behind that reflection — so the concentrated beam forms and leaves the glass before any interior film can affect it.
In practice, homeowners who tint the inside see no improvement. The beam still forms; the turf still melts.
Why Interior Film Can Make It Worse
Many interior films are reflective or metallic. Adding a reflective layer to the system can increase the total light bounced back outward, intensifying the very beam you're trying to eliminate.
That's why the standard advice to 'just tint the windows' backfires here — the type and side of application matter enormously.

Why Exterior Perforated Film Is the Answer
Exterior perforated anti-reflective film is applied to the outer glass, exactly where the reflection forms. Its micro-structure scatters the light so it can no longer converge into a hot beam.
It's rated for outdoor exposure, warrantied, and also trims heat and UV entering the home. One professional exterior install ends the melting permanently.
The Low-E Window Magnifying-Glass Effect
Modern Low-E (low-emissivity) windows carry a microscopic metallic coating — often triple-silver — engineered to bounce heat away from the glass. When a double-pane unit flexes slightly and turns faintly concave, that coating stops acting like a flat mirror and starts acting like a magnifying lens.
Sunlight that would normally spread harmlessly across your yard gets focused into a narrow, superheated beam. On a hot afternoon that concentrated beam can climb well past 200°F — hotter than the melting point of the plastic fibers your artificial turf is made from.

Film vs. Replacing Your Turf
